Hernease Davis: “...we’ll have to make new love.”

Mazmanian Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of artwork by Hernease Davis.  “...we’ll have to make new love.” is a continuation of Hernease Davis’ installation practice, wherein she feels into her work the recapitulative process of healing from deep trauma. Contending with the cyclical reengagement with deep psychological woundings – as an in-process, healing person – she uses self-portrait photograms and cyanotypes on fabrics, crocheted felted wool, blotting paper, and recorded layerings of her voice to create immersive spaces that are physical expressions of this continuous, internal conversation. In so doing, she creates a safe space for herself and (with sincere hope) for others to rest, and to recover.
